      Technical Contract Writing

By expecting the unexpected, we’ll build a contract that your clients will understand and love – not agonize over.

      Contract Editing

Legal Protection – Minus the Legalese

If you make your contracting document too complex for the average reader, your contracting party may assume you’re trying to get the better of them. Your contract should be clear – free of legalese, written in the active voice, and without ambiguity. We’ll review your promises, your expectations, and any potential risk involved. I’ll also assist with any revisions requested by your contracting party.

      Outline

Each industry or situation calls for different contract clauses. After getting the necessary background information on your project, we’ll work together to determine a basic structure.

      Draft

Some sections are standard across all contract documents. Others, like payment terms, uniquely apply to your project. I will keep you updated as I create the content for these sections.

      Review

I apply stringent editing procedures on all technical documents I produce. After I’ve reviewed it, so will you – and, if need be, we will seek legal guidance to make sure your contract is bulletproof.

      Negotiate

When all relevant parties have reviewed the document, we’ll send it to the client for review. Often the client will sign without issue, but if we need to make changes, I’ll work with you until it’s right.

      Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need a contract for my situation?

More than likely, yes – even if you are only contracting for a small amount, or making an agreement between family or friends. Protection from the worst is always better for all parties involved!

What sections do your contracts include?

While this can vary depending on your situation, your contract needs to cover these essentials:

      • Introduction (title and definitions)
      • Description of the exchange
      • Promises you make to each other about the exchange
      • What happens if the exchange fails
      • Additional sections and signatures
What process do you follow for contract writing or editing?
      1. Outline the contract clauses
      2. Draft as many times as needed to get it right
      3. Review the final product with you and, if necessary, with a legal professional
      4. Negotiate the contract with the client
How long will you take to write my contract?

Since contracts come in so many shapes and sizes, I can’t guarantee a due date until I know more about your project. Contact me to get a better estimate of time and cost.

Which industries do you write for?

If you can explain it to me, I can write it. Most of my experience has come from the field of education, but I can write for upstart businesses, IT, medical professionals, and more!

I will answer any questions you might have before we get started writing your next A+ contract. My job isn’t done until the client approves your plan, so I’ll work with you in the event of any client revisions.
